A prominent writer and broadcaster, Gavin Hewitt was the BBC’s Chief Correspondent from 2015 – 2017. During that time he covered the Trump campaign in the United States.

Before that he was the BBC’s Europe Editor from 2009 – 2015. During that period he wrote ‘The Lost Continent’ on the crisis in Europe. He has given speeches in America, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Brussels and Luxembourg.

Among the stories he covered as a BBC Special Correspondent were the Obama Campaign, Hurricane Katrina and the fall of the Berlin Wall. He was embedded with an American frontline unit for the war in Iraq. He wrote and presented the BBC 1 obituary to Princess Diana.

He wrote the book ‘Soul on Ice’ about his experiences, which was later used as the basis for a West End play. He has won a Royal Television Society award, a Bafta and an Emmy.
