Deborah Bergamini is an Italian politician and journalist, currently member of the Italian Parliament. MP since 2008 for Forza Italia, she is also the spokesperson of the Party.
During past legislatures, Deborah served as Vice-President of the Committee on Transports, Postal Services and Telecommunications and as member of the Electoral Committee and of the Committee for Information and External Communications of the Chamber of Deputies.
A member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg since 2009, she sits in the Political Affairs Committee.
Between March 2009 and June 2013 she also served as Chair of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Deborah Bergamini graduated in 1992 in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Florence and then won a scholarship at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she received a post-graduated Diploma in American Studies in 1993.
She then embarked on a career as a journalist, working for newspapers and television in Tuscany. In 1996 she moved to Paris where she worked as an Editor in Chief for the international publisher ‘Analyses et Synthèses’. She moved to London in 1997 where she worked as a journalist for Bloomberg TV.
From 1999 to 2002 she served as a communication aide for Silvio Berlusconi.Between 2002 and January 2008 she worked for RAI, the Italian public service broadcast, as director for marketing.
