Shahida Tulaganova has been in journalism for more then 20 years. She started her career at the BBC’s Central Asian programme, moved to BBC Television News Features desk, and then to BBC’s Current Affairs as producer. She reported from Central Asia, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Israel, Turkey and Occupied Palestinian Territories. Investigated passport forgery in the EU. Two of her documentary films were awarded first prizes for “best documentary”- Airport Donetsk (story of an epic battle for Donetsk Airport in Eastern Ukraine) and How to Plan a Revolution (fight of opposition in Azerbaijan against autocratic regime), Berlin Film Festival, 2006. Her latest film “Cries from Syria”, directed by Oscar nominated director Evgeny Afineevsky, was premiered at the latest Sundance Film Festival. Until recently, Shahida worked for Current Time TV channel, anchoring the Weekly Show.
