The Eurasian Media Forum is the most prominent international media initiative in Eurasia aimed at defining the strategic role of Eurasia in world affairs, exploring a new approach to international relations, promoting equality of access to reliable public information throughout the area and encouraging the highest standards of journalism.

The Eurasian Media Forum - where East meets West The annual Eurasian Media Forum conference is traditionally held in April in Almaty, the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the very heart of Eurasia. Kazakhstan is a land where the values of ancient civilizations connect the East and the West, where cultural, economic and social ties bring Europe and Asia together: the historical landbridge known as the Great Silk Road. Almaty, the former capital of the Republic, is a vibrant business and cultural centre, a green city full of trees and flowers unfolding at the foothills of the picturesque Zaili Alatau Mountains. News 08.05 The 7th annual Eurasian Media Forum took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan on April 24-25, 2008 The 7th annual Eurasian Media Forum took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan on April 24-25, 2008. The conference was the biggest in its history, with over 500 delegates from East and West: political leaders, academics and journalists from the regional and international media. President Nursultan Nazarbayev opened the Forum with a call for international cooperation to cope with coming food and energy shortages (see NEWS on this page). Dr Dariga Nazarbayeva, founder of the Forum, welcomed the delegates. Other key speakers were Srgjan Kerim, President of the 62nd Session of the United Nations General assembly, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and Zbigniew Brzezinski, US National Security Advisor to President Carter.
